Evan was born at Fletcher Allen hospital in Vermont, USA. He loved to be held and warmed up. He started having seizures when he was about 3 months old. When he first got into the hospital no-one knew what was wrong. His aunt looked up the symptoms and found Menkes. Then doctors confirmed that his mother and grandmother were Menkes carriers even though the great-grandmother had three healthy boys and the grandmother two. He never had copper shots. He loved to be held close and bath time. He was in and out from the hospital a lot. He couldn’t hear, talk or walk. Doctors told the family to say their goodbyes in August 2005, but he held on till January 23, because that is what fighters do.
